Barnhart School

Third Grade Class Play

(Arcadia, CA.) Barnhart School's third grade class, under the direction of teachers Mrs. Kathleen Dunham and Mrs. Yvette Gilbert, performed “Climb High Jack” to a full house, Thursday, January 24, 2008. Our students are learning to be both dramatic and fluent.

Barnhart theatrical performances at this level develop ensemble work while expanding vocabulary and reading skills as students memorize their lines. Memorization of verse is a foundation of raw intelligence, building a mental discipline which carries over into other scholastic areas.

The Middle School Yearbook Club filmed the play with three different video cameras and prepared a copy on DVD for purchase. While demonstrating video technology, students learn how to record, edit and publish video. Funds raised are used for technology upgrades which enhance the computer lab for all students to use.
